Esmero is a family business, born in 2002, whose origins date back to the time of grandfather Fernando, who planted most of the vineyards we are currently exploring.
We started our project with one wine (Esmero Red) and over time we have expanded the portfolio.
Today, the brand offers two ranges - ESMERO and MIMO - which include white and red wines.
Our vineyards are located in a Duriense sub-region of Baixo-Corgo, known for the freshness it gives to the wines produced there. If we add to this factor the high age of our vineyards (30 to 80 years), we recognize the ideal conditions to produce expressive wines of a region, but also the care (care) applied to its production.
The red wines are produced with a mixture of typical grape varieties of the region in many vineyards ("assemblage "), differentiated by the age and location of the vineyards (MIMO, from a vineyard with 50 years in a cooler area and ESMERO, from vineyards with 80 years, in a warmer area).
In MIMO we find a particular elegance and finesse, while in ESMERO we have the concentration and complexity that distinguish the wines of douro.
In white wines, we used different varieties (Moscatel Galego, Fernão Pires and Syria in MIMO; Viosinho and Gouveio in ESMERO), although located in a differentiating area of the region, to which the soil of transition from schist to granite gives a unique minerality.
In the whites, the minerality and complexity that the transitional soil from schist to granite contains.
In the reds, the freshness combined with the elegance (MIMO) and complexity (ESMERO) of Douro wines.
The ESMERO Branco(WHITE) or Red wines(ESMERO AND MIMO ) are wines to be highlighted for their complexity, but also for the longevity they have - they are able to evolve beautifully over the years!
"IF I HAD TO DESCRIBE THE WINES IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE? Terroir, freshness and longevity."
