Description
Vinification:
Vinified in stainless steel tanks after decanting for 48 hours. Aged on lees for 7 months.
In the mouth: tendency to pure power as a style.

Keep the bottle in a horizontal position. Perfect to serve at 10ºC.

"The Blend
The Blend Casa da Bouça 2020 is a blend of 50% Arinto, 30% Trajadura and 20% Azal from the estate Casa da Bouça, all vines planted in 1988. Like its siblings, it is very dry (less than half a gram of residual sugar and eight grams of total acidity) and 12.7% alcohol. Concentrated and solid on the palate for this level, it nonetheless stands out for its bracing acidity. It seems to have the mid-palate to balance it out nicely, but there is a bit of skin in the youth of this wine. It looks very promising, but it's not quite there yet. It will probably show better this summer. After that, it could hold up quite well. There's no track record, of course, so we'll take it in stages. There were 10,200 bottles produced.

"This article presents the debut in our pages of the adventure of Margarida Borges in Vinho Verde. The property is Casa da Bouça, on the right bank of the Sousa River, in the region of Lousada. There are 10 hectares of vineyards with different plots and different ages. They are all very small production wines and very dry, without sparkle. It's fun to see new wines and new companies. They have a tendency towards pure power as a style. Some may even border on stridency. We'll see if they can acquire some balance with a year or two in the cellar. It is possible. There is a lot of potential here. As fun as the Vinhos Verdes are, the star is obviously the Fojo. This iconic red is brilliant."
